[Urgent appeal to church members and everyone to support the church's ministry: it can only be maintained for 9 months]
Church Status
We pay attention to the whole-person support for Hong Kong people after the Anti-Extradition Movement. Since April 2021, the gathering of Hong Kong people will be held in London. So far, there are four gathering places (London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol), one branch church (Canada Good Neighbor Church), six worship services, with a total of about 160 people; and charity services in various places: home canteen, home meal (parent meal) matching service, food support plan, counseling service, BNO Hong Kong people adaptation plan , a total of 1755 service objects and 6160 person-times.
But the present age is really evil, and the faith community has the responsibility to use the Bible to speak out. In addition to the Sunday message, we make statements on current politics from time to time, and hold different rallies (2021 Stand News Case "Give Back My Press Freedom Rally", "Other Countries' Matters, Common Righteousness" June 4th Prayer Rally, 612 Birmingham, 721 London, 831 Birmingham Memorial Service, etc.), Asian Human Rights Art Exhibition (to be held in August 2022, with a total of 1,000 visitors, 70% of whom are British locals, effectively using art as a "non-governmental international line" for human rights); In addition, from March to April 2022, 8 team workers will be sent to Kharkiv, Ukraine, to carry out humanitarian support work for about a month, and personally fight against injustice.
Yes, maybe we haven't improved the world, but maybe we can bring a little more goodness. Our mission statement "Let's do justice, love mercy, keep humility, and continue to fight" is not only aimed at the anti-extradition movement in Hong Kong, but the totalitarian suppression of human rights is becoming more and more serious around the world. We are determined to continue to fight for the sinners , Let the dark places be seen and restored.
The Church's 2023 Plan and Needs
•Increase and train pastoral manpower
At present, there are about 160 people gathering in the 5 meeting places of the association, and the staff are 1 full-time preacher, 0.18 part-time preachers (Canada Branch) and 0.27 position officers (Manchester City meeting place). In terms of holistic care for diaspora and refugees, the manpower ratio is actually seriously unequal. The church really needs to increase the number of pastors to at least 3-4 full-time pastors in order to respond to the pastoral care, evangelism, and practical support for the execution of poverty-stricken projects among believers and refugees in the diaspora, especially the problems of emotional distress. This need is very urgent, and it also greatly reduces the pastoral pressure on pastors.
• Whole person care and venue
"Food Support Program" (English), "Home Meals" (English, Canadian), Home Dining Hall Chill Space/Home" (English), "Short-Term Accommodation Program" (English), etc. have been operated by church volunteers, thanks to the church from top to bottom serve. In the future, we will face the challenge of venue rent in order to maintain support for the grassroots and Hong Kong refugees. If the church’s finances do not improve, the church can only last for 9 months, and it will not be able to rent the current venue and provide various services; after all, the venue can provide refugees and grassroots with a home, a meal to settle down, and continue on the road .
•Taiwan Hong Kong Youth Support Ministry
But our hearts are still with the diaspora, especially the grassroots Hong Kong Christians in Taiwan. According to data and estimates, there are currently no less than 1,000 Hong Kong refugees (projects) in Taiwan. During our on-site inspections, personal understanding with MAC officials, and dialogues with Hong Kong teenagers, we found that many of them have emotional distress and practical needs in life. . Young people who are studying in Hong Kong are faced with huge homework pressure, and at the same time they have to deal with housing rent and living expenses. The time dragging has caused great mental distress. Coupled with the traumatic aftermath of the Anti-Extradition Movement, refugees have distrusted the group, society, and the Taiwan government. Not only did they improve their living conditions, but they also hid themselves, which intensified their depression and created a vicious cycle of poverty. The situation is worse than we expected. more serious.
The Association intends to set up "24/7 Listening and Speaking Online Support Service" for Taiwan, Tokyo and other places, to contact needy Hong Kong people online for emotional support, and to arrange "Hong Kong People's Food Support Project" together with regional churches and organizations Free supermarket coupons to meet urgent needs. After three years of anti-extradition, the enthusiasm has faded. Please don't give up on the Hong Kong people who are in need.
In the long run, we look forward to setting up churches in the two places, so that the diaspora can see the light of the world, love and serve each other.
• Public Theology: Human Rights and Advocacy
We firmly believe that the Bible reminds us not only to be humble and merciful to God, but also to act righteously. Yes, is to actually take action. Continuing last year’s assembly and Asian Human Rights Art Exhibition, this year we hope to set up an advocacy working group for human rights work, produce discourses for public theology, and contact official and non-governmental organizations in cities around the world, hoping to work for Hong Kong people and other groups in need in human rights work Work hard and do non-governmental international work. Only when the system and political power are changed can those under control be released.
