"Our Good Neighbor"

In the beginning, the church was entrusted by the elders and congregation of the Good Neighbor Church Hong Kong to develop a Church in London, because Hong Kong youths are constantly dispersing. I observed that some young people from Hong Kong lack a working position, are unfulfilled and that both their lives and spirituality have grown stressful. The young people's confidence is thus shaken by the sensitivity of getting along with others, and the "Condom Theory" even surfaces: have they been abandoned?

I am fully aware that they left the social movement with significant bodily and psychological stress. As far as I'm aware, many have struggled with depression, insomnia, and other issues. The only option to relieve tension in the area is to purchase sleeping pills because there aren't any local resources. It is quite concerning. The few young individuals who applied for refugee status with the aid of attorneys were rationed food by food banks, although they hardly had enough to eat. This strategy has very little backing and a very low success rate. (A few days ago, a young man showed me the food he and his friends had just gotten. The portion was barely enough, and he had to "save food," eating only one or two meals a day, to make it until the next ration. )

I've also assisted some young people in receiving food aid from Christians in the UK, as well as providing individual pastoring and counselling to them; supermarket coupons, gift cards, and even a greeting and concern have all become very important here. I feel sorry for these homeless Hong Kong youths, but I also praise the Lord for their patience and courage in the face of adversity. They came to the UK to keep their useful bodies in the hope of continuing to work with Hong Kong people at home and abroad to restore our "home."

"Good Neighbors in England" Sets Sail

Not only young people, I also saw Hong Kong families from different backgrounds but with the same beliefs, rushing in with BNOs. It is also very heartbreaking for everyone to witness the gradual collapse of the beloved Hong Kong. At the rally in London on March 1, a woman shared with me feebly, "Looking at these 47 people, I can't seem to do anything." I tried to encourage her, "No, it's good to stand up." I believe that the sense of powerlessness is also surrounding every Hongkonger. When we spoke out for 47 people overseas, a body member in Hong Kong said: "Please try to shout slogans for us! Because we can no longer be like before." Hearing this, I felt very heartbroken. It was a trust After all, Hong Kong has lost freedom of speech.

This is a battle. Not just politics, but also a battle of humanity and spirituality. This also established the initial direction of "Good Neighbors in England" - fighting for the oppressed.

The "British Neighbors" church has been in operation for several months and has begun to gather Christians from Hong Kong. Under the grace of the Lord, more than 100 members from Bristol, London, Manchester City, and Birmingham participated in the event every week. In addition to those in the UK, there are also people from Hong Kong, the United States, and Australia. In addition, the "British Youth Short-term Accommodation Program", "British Home Meal Program" (a volunteer kitchen and needy Hong Kong people are paired to cook meals), "Sunday School for Local Children" and other services, and arranged free English adaptation The class is for Hong Kong people who have just arrived in the UK! . May the Lord use us to be a bridge between Hong Kong people and the UK, so that each other can be healed and built up in the love of the Lord.

My members and I still have big dreams - if the church can have its own meeting place in the future, we must reserve a corner of it and become the "Hong Kong Resistance Memorial Museum", which is open to the public to visit social movement artifacts, audio and video Records, publicity.... If the dream comes true, I will definitely invite the participants of the social movement to dictate this history on the spot, telling those who are in the UK and Hong Kong today, but don’t forget, and let the next generation understand the spirit of Hong Kong, remember the pain they have endured, and commemorate the movement. someone who makes sacrifices. Let everyone pray, be quiet, and counsel. After all, you and I need healing. Let God do the healing, gathering, and reorganization, so that this place will become a "house of prayer and worship for all nations" and a stronghold for Hong Kong people to start again. Since there are politicians attacking on the international front, it is more advisable for the church to serve the people and serve.

Our ambition is not to leave Hong Kong to "walk in trouble" and go to a quiet place. The "British Good Neighbor" wants to be a company overseas that speaks out for the oppressed, advocates for human rights, cries with the poor colleagues, and A church that strives to spread the good news of the kingdom of heaven. I don't give up, I still hope that our "home" will see the light. May you support us, realize this dream, continue to serve the local people, and let us take care of the needy Hong Kong people in other places!
